The project

A surfing legend. In your pocket.

Hawaiian surfer Jamie O’Brien wanted to share his experience through a surf coaching app. Our brief was to bring his personality to the screen with lively 2D animation.

The result pairs character performance with clear visual explanations, helping turn surfing know-how into something enjoyable to watch.

Building the world

Designing the wave graphics.

Flowing lines suggest the movement of water, while bold shapes and a vivid palette give the lessons their own visual rhythm. The graphic world feels playful without competing with the ideas being explained.

Animating Jamie’s surfing lessons.

Jamie’s animated character guides viewers through the lessons with expressive poses and plenty of energy. Designed for the app, the animation keeps the instruction approachable and the love of surfing at its heart.
